In light of the alarming rise in suicide rates, particularly among Pastors and Black and Brown men and youth, this training is more urgent than ever.
As a community of faith, we have a unique responsibility to address this crisis head-on. While prayer is powerful, we cannot afford to ignore the harmful practice of spiritualizing mental health conditions. Too often, when we don’t know what to say or do, we fall back on “just pray about it,” misdiagnosing people’s struggles with spiritual explanations that fall short of the support people desperately need.
This training equips your church leaders, congregation and community to recognize the signs and symptoms of suicidal ideation and to intervene confidently and effectively—your team will gain the knowledge and skills needed to guide individuals in crisis toward safety and support.
Suicide postvention respite & recovery retreat is the safe haven and sanctuary that grants permission to individuals and their families at risk of suicide and/or survivors of bereavement by suicide or self–inflicted death to breathe, break down, grieve, release, and begin the journey of recovery that allows them to rebuild their lives in a safe, judgment-free environment with others who share the experience.
The activities and arrangements for each event vary – for some they finally have an opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves a little without feeling guilty.
Half-day, full-day, and multi-day retreats personalized for your group goals, which may include:
In our hands-on activities, participants also work and play closely with our horses, huskies and other ranch animals to experience their ability to reveal your strengths, challenges, and styles. Previous horse experience is not necessary. No riding is required.
